Adela Alcolea-Medina

Dr Adela Alcolea-Medina is a Consultant Clinical Scientist for Pathogen Sequencing at Synnovis, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, specialised in Clinical Microbiology and Parasitology.

She focuses on translating cutting-edge sequencing innovations into routine clinical practice to enhance pathogen detection, antimicrobial stewardship, and patient care.

In the NHS Respiratory Metagenomics Network, she acts as Clinical Scientist Lead, driving the adoption of innovative sequencing workflows across the network and supporting their validation, implementation in the clinical laboratory, and progression toward service accreditation.
